What are The Benefits of Wireless Gas Detectors?

Gas detectors are essential safety devices in many industries and workplaces, particularly in any area where space is confined or chemical hazards are present. In the workplace gas detectors are routinely used as preventative measures as they monitor the percentage of hazardous vapours in the atmosphere, and release warnings when the level exceeds safe standards. Gas detectors are also regularly used as part of emergency response procedures to determine the scale of the danger present and to find safe, gas free areas to evacuate to.

The use of some conventional gas detectors, however, like many safety devices, is often awkward and disruptive to normal work practices. This is where wireless detectors are useful in providing effective safety management along with streamlined functionality and control.

Wireless gas detectors are available in hand-held, portable models, which are well suited for emergency response or use in remote areas, or as fixed devices which continually monitor workplaces and confined spaces. Both types of gas detector connect wirelessly to a central monitor, which generates analysis of the data received.

The central monitor can control a large number of  wirelessly connected gas detectors, in some models more than sixty at a time. The wireless system receives real-time readings from the various devices, meaning that all workers and all areas can be constantly monitored by just one supervising team. The use of wireless gas detectors ensure that no employee is left alone in an emergency, even when working in a remote area.

Additional benefits to using wireless gas detectors are that they usually require minimal configuration, costs related to installing cables and wires are reduced and there are easy expansion opportunities to the wireless system.
