What Is The MiniRAE Lite?

The MiniRAE Lite is from a range of products, including the UltraRAE and MiniRAE 3000, which are designed to monitor volatile organic compounds (VOCs) across various industries. The MiniRAE Lite was originally designed for use in the environmental field, but is also suitable for use in construction, the monitoring of in-house solvents and spill response.

The device has a photo-ionization detector (PID) range of 0 to 5,000 parts per million, as well as the added benefits of in-built humidity and temperature compensation. The MiniRAE Lite, like other MiniRAE devices, has a three second response time – the fastest of any device on the market.

The MiniRAE Lite was designed with portability, reliability and ease of use in mind. It is easy to transport the device from location to location without fear of damage, and it comes with a protective green rubber boot that is easily removable for cleaning.

While it does lack some of the features of the ultra high-tech MiniRAE 3000, such as its inability for data logging or a compound library, the Lite version does share some of its most popular elements, such as the 10.6 eV lamp and the built-in flashlight component.

As the MiniRAE Lite was originally designed for use in environments that are less volatile than others, it is really only useful in gaining an accurate measurement of head space readings in both soil and water. It is not recommended that this device be used in industrial settings where the MiniRAE 3000 would be more appropriate.

So, while the MiniRAE Lite is not as high-tech as the 3000 version, the elements that the two devices share make the Lite version perfectly suited for less volatile settings, such as in the environmental industry.

What is miniRAE 3000?

Today, where industrialization is at its peak the possibility of air pollution is also high. Obviously, increasing factories and manufacturing industries are simplifying our life by introducing several useful products, but it has a side effect too. Gas emitting from factories can imbalance the natural air composition and can make it poisonous too. To deal with such problems, miniRAE 3000 has been introduced.

The MiniRAE 3000 is high tech handheld volatile organic compound (VOC) detector in the market at present. This instrument is equipped with poisonous gas detection feature. It has Photoionization Detector (PID) having extended range of 0 to 15,000 ppm, which makes it a perfect device for industrial hygiene applications like detecting leakage or HazMat.

These are equipped with RF modem that enables user experience real-time data transmissions. It has a base controller which can be installed up to 500 feet or approximately two-miles away from the MiniRAE 3000 detector. As a base station personal computer can be used for a MiniRAE 3000 device. ProRAE Remote is the standard software able of monitor the input of up to 64 remotely-located monitors like MiniRAE 3000, AreaRAE and many other similar devices.

To maintain the hygiene in factories to avoid any health issues of workers, today in many countries government has made use this device mandatory in favor of human rights. The introduction of MiniRAE 3000 as an advance version has controlled the death toll that was quite high few years back due to unexpected poisonous gas leakage in the industries.

Digital light meters – Requirement of our day to day life

Advancement of technology has generated the chances of improvement in almost every domain. Digital light meter is one such scientific achievement that has resolved many requirements of daily life.

A light meter is a scientific device invented to determine the quantity of light. This device may seem unimportant to laymen, but it has huge significance in photography. In fact, it is a great scientific attainment that has made photographers catch quality photographs. Digital light meters play a vital role in measuring proper light exposure for photography. Digital light meters typically include a computer. It can be either digital or analog. This allows photographer to determine the perfect shutter speed and f-number required for an optimum exposure at certain lighting situation and film speed.

Application of digital light meters is not limited to the photography only. It is also popular in cinematography. Digital light meters are widely used in the domain of cinematography and scenic design, so as to measure the optimum light level required for a scene. Besides, these devices are equally used in the general field of lighting, both indoors and outdoors. Means, they help to reduce the quantity of extra light not required in the home and anywhere outside. Surprisingly, these devices are also used to ensure that the plants are growing in proper light levels.

These simple looking devices are undoubtedly very useful in our day to day to life. Available in different range and quality, these can be availed online. At times these are also offered at cheaper price for aspiring photographers.

How are Gas Detectors Used in Firefighting?

As you know, gas detectors are devices which are used to detect the presence of a wide variety of gases either in a confined space or in the environment. Gas detectors can be used to detect and measure the severity of toxic gas leaks and oxygen depletion, as well as the presence of combustible and flammable gases, making the devices very useful in firefighting.

Gas detectors are used in firefighting to provide a quick response, in the form of a flashing and beeping alarm, to the presence of flammable gases and combustible gases in a confined space in order to warn inhabitants and prevent a fire from occurring. Gas detectors provide the earliest possible warning of a fire, and are therefore the most effective device in controlling fires, especially in high risk areas and industries.

Gas detectors are also used by firefighters when responding to fires and other emergencies in assessing the danger presented by chemicals and hazardous gases. One of the most significant hazards of a fire can be the poisonous gases produced by it, and portable gas detectors are vital in responding to this hazard. Portable gas detectors can be used to detect the presence of toxic gases produced or amplified by the fire, thereby determining a safe boundary around the fire, increasing the safety of both fire victims and firefighters.

Gas detectors are essential safety devices in all high risk industries, such as refineries, gas distribution facilities, oil and gas production platforms, LNG/LPG processing facilities and chemical plants as they allow both disastrous fires and long-term adverse health effects to be prevented.

Why We Need Sound Level Meters?

Employees’ health is the obligation of employer. Hence, when it comes to industry based organizations sound measurement forms as a part of basic health and safety checks. A workplace has to follow health and safety legislation that covers protection of employees’ hearing ability. Many industries, especially related to manufacturing, construction and mining domains are more likely to produce unnecessary noise that can be a threat to hearing ability of employees working there. The legislation in favor of hearing ability came in execution when several cases of defenses among workers in mining, construction and related domain were exposed. Therefore, these industries assess noise level to determine if exposure to these noises can cause harm to the hearing ability of their workers. Such audits are carried out using sound level meter

These machines can be hired as well as bought for routine checkup of the sound level. Sound level meters are preferred to hire as company doesn’t have to be liable and concern to the maintenance, repair and updating equipment. Although, sound level meter is preferred to hire, but competitive price and need for routine audit have made it easier to buy. Whether a company buys or hires, it must comply health and safety legislation that strictly favors workers’ health safety.

Importance Of Dust Monitoring

Working in industries related to mines and chemical plants increases the risk of health hazard due to possible dust density in the environment. In fact, aerosol and dust particles are rapidly becoming major concern for human health and global warming. Dust overall might not seem very harmful but these matters sizing below 10 microns can enter into the bloodstream through lungs, that can further cause toxic poisoning in the body and potential health risks.

The intensity of health hazard rises more potentially when the duct around industry contains wastage of heavy metals. It can be mercury or cadmium, which are tremendously injurious to human health. However, dust particles naturally existing in the environment can be dangerous as well.

If recent medical record is to be considered, the contribution of dust has been crucial in various diseases and conditions. Some of them can be named as lung cancer, respiratory illness and severe allergic reactions. Certainly, the importance of dust monitoring cannot be underestimated.

In many places dust monitoring as become an essential procedure for the safety of human health. There are many companies which provide the service to measure the dust density and the presence of harmful particles. They use different patterns such as dust deposition gauges, high volume samplers and continuous particle monitors to do their job considering the type of industry and area. Dust monitoring is not just required for the workers’ heath, but also to improve the quality of production and lower the cost of any industry.
