How are Gas Detectors Used in Firefighting?


As you know, gas detectors are devices which are used to detect the presence of a wide variety of gases either in a confined space or in the environment. Gas detectors can be used to detect and measure the severity of toxic gas leaks and oxygen depletion, as well as the presence of combustible and flammable gases, making the devices very useful in firefighting.

Gas detectors are used in firefighting to provide a quick response, in the form of a flashing and beeping alarm, to the presence of flammable gases and combustible gases in a confined space in order to warn inhabitants and prevent a fire from occurring. Gas detectors are essential safety devices in all high risk industries, such as refineries, gas distribution facilities, oil and gas production platforms, LNG/LPG processing facilities and chemical plants as they allow both disastrous fires and long-term adverse health effects to be prevented.
